In daily cosmetic products, makeup items such as lipsticks, mascaras, and eyebrow pencils, as well as hair care products like conditioners and hair dyes, generally contain trace amounts of heavy metals. These heavy metals can potentially be absorbed into the human body through skin contact, and even through the esophagus and digestive tract. 日常化妝品中，彩妝中的口紅、睫毛膏、眉筆等，和髮用化妝品中的護髮素、染髮劑等，一般都含有极微量重金属，可能會透過接觸皮膚甚至食道和消化道直接進入人體。常見的重金屬為汞、鉛、砷、鎘。相應之限量可以參考由國家食品藥品監督管理總局頒布之《化妝品安全技術規範》（2015年版）（簡稱《技術規範》）。
